Pragmatic Play – A Brief History
The company was founded in 2015 and has quickly developed into a major worldwide operation, with offices based across Europe and Asia. Today, it is responsible for the employment of around five hundred people, with around a dozen different offices spread across both continents.
The company’s administrative headquarters are situated on the Mediterranean Sea, with offices on both the island of Malta and on the UK overseas territory of Gibraltar. Although these are of administrative importance, most of the hard graft and software design work is done elsewhere. Only a handful of staff work at these locations, with the vast majority working from development offices which are more widely spread.
There are two major geographical hubs. In Eastern Europe, there are major offices in Bucharest in Romania; Zhytomyr and Kiev in Ukraine and the Serbian capital of Belgrade. Meanwhile, in India, there are big offices in Hyderabad and Noida, on the outskirts of New Delhi. There are further offices in the United Kingdom and The Philippines, but the vast majority of their employees are located in Eastern Europe or India.
The company now have operations in just about every aspect of the online gaming industry, but from the players’ point of view, it is their game designs which must be front and centre.
Pragmatic Play Games
The company covers just about every format and genre when it comes to casino games. Sure, they produce a lot of excellent slots, but there is far more to Pragmatic Play than just their selection of five reel titles.
Take their superb new live casino offerings. The company has just opened a brand new state of the art games studio. Completed in 2019, it is located in Bucharest, the capital city of Romania. With more than forty tables, and the prospect of more being added in the near future, they are moving to the forefront of live gaming online.
Employing top qualified professional dealers with all the latest high tech equipment, the quality of the live streamed feeds is excellent. Sure you rely on your local Wi-Fi connection to a certain extent, but the original transmission is faultless. The in-game graphics are also superb, making the process of placing bets and following play as smooth as possible. Games can be played in a variety of languages too, with English, German, Italian, Russian and Turkish amongst the different options.
Baccarat, Blackjack and Roulette are all provided in a number of different formats. Only Poker is missing from the comprehensive range of table games on offer.
Pragmatic Play are also leading the way with another traditional game – Bingo. Of course, Jumpman Gaming know a thing or two about Bingo themselves, having been at the forefront of online Bingo in the UK and Europe for years, but Pragmatic Play Bingo is well up to standard. They provide the familiar 90 and 75 ball formats of course, but go much further, covering enough additional varieties of the game to satisfy even the most adventurous players. There’s 80, 50 and 30 ball ‘speed’ Bingo, and in fact the 80 ball ‘Boombox’ theme is probably my favourite (Boombox, big in the 80’s…. good idea no?)
Then there is a good selection of around half a dozen scratch cards, some Keno and a little video poker. Just about every angle is covered – satisfying both casino operators and their players alike.
But of course, even after all this variety and quality, it is still the slots which steal the show. There are already well over a hundred different video slot titles in the Pragmatic Play library, with around two hundred alternative games in total. More are in the pipeline too. And there are some top titles amongst the multitude on offer. Just about every major genre is covered, like Egyptian, Irish Luck and classical Greece and Rome. Perhaps the best covered topic is Chinese Fortune. Here you will find a variety of entertaining designs. These include slots like Lucky New Year, Master Chen’s Fortune, Peking Luck and Triple Dragons.
But it is when the company strays beyond the established genres that its designers’ true innovative genius is best displayed. Quirky games like Release the Kraken, The Great Chicken Escape, The Dog House and The Catfather Part II are inspired works worthy of any player’s attention. The company’s ‘John Hunter’ series – a bit of a parody of Indiana Jones, is also an excellent theme.
There are some really nostalgic classic three reel slots too if you are looking for more old school fun. There are half a dozen in total, and they all exude that traditional one armed bandit kind of charm. Finally on the slot front, there are the progressive jackpot games. These are in effect upgrades on the standard video slot format. Again, there are around half a dozen, with Chilli Heat, Great Rhino and Wolf Gold being particularly popular.
And to complete the Progress Play inventory, you can also play some standard format traditional table games. Traditional casino games on offer include Baccarat, Blackjack, Poker and Roulette.
